Archanes Traditional Village & Politakis Olive Mill Tour and Tasting

Join us for a memorable afternoon in the Cretan countryside, combining a visit to the traditional village of Archanes with a guided tour and olive oil tasting at the Politakis Olive Mill.

Excursion Schedule

• 12:15: Central Conference Photo

• Approximately 12:20: Complimentary light lunch at Galaxy Hotel

• 12:50: Gathering in front of the main hotel entrance

• 13:00: Departure

• Approximately 18:00: Return to Galaxy Hotel

A complimentary light lunch will be offered at Galaxy Hotel immediately after the Central Conference Photo and before the departure of the coaches.

The light lunch is included for registered physical participants who have confirmed their excursion participation. It is also included for accompanying persons holding a paid excursion reservation.

Participants are kindly requested to inform the Organizing Committee in advance of any dietary requirements or food allergies.

The excursion will be conducted in English by licensed English-speaking tour guides.

Archanes Traditional Village

Our journey will take us through the beautiful countryside of Central Crete and the Peza Valley to Archanes, a traditional village situated at the foot of Mount Juktas.

Archanes combines Crete’s rich Minoan heritage with the authentic character of everyday village life. Its restored traditional houses, colourful doors and windows, flower-filled courtyards, charming squares, and narrow streets create a particularly welcoming atmosphere.

Participants will have time to explore the village, visit local shops, discover traditional products, or relax in one of its cafés and tavernas while experiencing genuine Cretan hospitality.

Politakis Olive Mill Tour and Tasting

The excursion also includes a guided visit to the Politakis Olive Mill, where participants will discover Crete’s long-established olive-growing tradition.

During the visit, we will learn how locally grown olives are harvested and transformed into extra virgin olive oil. The experience will conclude with a tasting of Cretan olive oil and an introduction to the aromas and flavours that distinguish high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

The visit to the olive mill will last approximately one hour, including the guided tour and tasting.

Participation Fees and Reservations

• Registered physical participants of ICNAAM 2026: One complimentary excursion seat and the light lunch are included in the conference registration fee.

• Accompanying persons: €50 per person, including the excursion and light lunch.

Advance confirmation is required for all participants, including those whose excursion seat is included in their registration.

Participants may confirm their attendance and reserve seats for accompanying persons at the conference registration desk. 

Accompanying-person reservations may also be arranged with the Conference Registration Desk. Seats and coach assignments will be allocated according to confirmed reservations.

Important Information

To accommodate all participants, the coaches may visit Archanes and the Politakis Olive Mill in a different order. One group may visit the olive mill first, while another group visits Archanes first. The Conference Registration Desk will provide participants with their coach assignment.

Participants are kindly requested to remain with their assigned coach and follow the instructions of their tour guide throughout the excursion.

Comfortable walking shoes, drinking water, and sun protection are recommended.

Any additional meals, drinks, and personal purchases during the excursion are not included. A complimentary light lunch will be offered at Galaxy Hotel immediately after the Central Conference Photo and before the departure of the coaches. The light lunch is included for registered physical participants who have confirmed their excursion participation. It is also included for accompanying persons holding a paid excursion reservation.
